A Visit to Belmont Park Throwley Faversham
Tuesday, 10 Jun 2008 09:45
Who showed the May newsletter to the pigeons? They've obviously seen it. It reported that there would be grass seed in Regency Square and it looks as if the pigeons have made a meal of it! How else could they possibly have known?
Have you ever wondered what our part of town and the West Pier would look like from out at sea? Now is your chance to find out. We have organised a boat trip from Brighton Marina along the coast as far as Brunswick Square and back. It will last one hour and the cost will be £5 per person.
The trip will be at 6pm on Saturday 14 July 2001. There will be a second trip at 7pm if there is enough demand. If you want to come please return the form below together with your £5. The boat takes ten people so book early to be sure of a place. The trip will only go ahead if the weather is suitable; otherwise your money will be returned.

There has been much local gossip about trees being in the wrong place in Clarence Square. Here is the authoritative version from the Council's senior landscape designer, Catherine Jenkins:
"The surveyors who originally carried Out the survey in Clarence Square had (unbelievably) positioned the tree on the east side of the square in the wrong place. This meant that this tree fell inside the pathway."
"The pathway in Clarence Square has not been repositioned as we did not want to compromise the original design of the garden. The tree would not cause problems to the footpath but we were anxious that the footpath did not create problems for the tree."
"The pathway has therefore been slightly widened around both trees to ensure that tree roots would not be damaged when excavating the trench for the foundations for the path edging. A special porous bound gravel will be used in these areas of the path to ensure that water can filter through the gravel around the base of each tree."
The Council was planning to put 24 hour loading bays opposite houses in Queensbury Mews. Following objections from residents and the Society the plan has been withdrawn.
Society member John Clinton tells us what he is planning to do to improve St Margaret's Place.
"Are you troubled by refuse and litter in St Margaret's Place? Are you hindered by illegally parked vehicles and unloading in your approach to Sussex Heights?"
"As a new resident in the street my quality of life has been and no doubt will continue to be affected by these nuisances. Is yours as well?"
"I want to do something about it and perhaps with your help I can. I would like to hear from anybody who is affected and has experiences to share. My intention is to produce this and video evidence and present these at a meeting with the management of the Metropole hotel. Call me on 01273 776361 with your views. You don't have to become involved in the meeting but your views could count."
Many thanks to those businesses and individuals who have sponsored our web site. We have included details of all the sponsors on the site.
As an extra thank you we would like to offer sponsors the chance to have a photograph included on the site, for example to illustrate your business. If you have a suitable photo we can use it, or we can take one for you.
If you are interested, let us know through the feedback section.
We are planning a Society quiz night for Thursday 13 September 2001. It will be at the Beach Hotel. Put it in your diary now!

Here is the plan which has been approved for the top green in Regency Square. Work will start on it in the autumn.
We have proposed that the cobbled area at the northeast corner of the square should be removed and the railing re-located to bring it within the garden area. the aim is to discourage rubbish dumping.
