Between the Wars
Western Road looking east at the junction with Preston Street. Western Road is noticeably much narrower in this picture than it is today - the buildings on the northern side were later demolished in the road widening scheme.
Western Road marks the northern boundary of the area covered by the Society. Here we see shops in the stretch between Castle Street and Preston Street in the period between the first and second world wars.
