Preston Street, nowadays, is often referred to as "the street of a thousand restaurants". Once home to some of the most elegant and exclusive shops in Brighton almost every shop now is a restaurant, where you can find just about every type of cuisine imaginable from all corners of the world.
March 2009 footnote - Times change. At the peak of the restaurant trade in Preston Street there were almost 50 different catering establishments, representing many different nationalities, this number has now dropped to about 15.
