All paddled out - the end of an era

The view from the landward end of the West Pier towards the Palace (recently renamed Brighton) Pier.
The paddling pool in the foreground has attracted families from a wide area for the last 65 years but in September 2000 it was drained and the council say that it will not be re-opening next year but that a new paddling pool will be built to the west of the West Pier and will be completed in time for summer 2001.
