Fire on West Pier

Just before 10 am on the morning of Friday 28th March fire broke out on the West Pier. It seemed to start at the landward end of the theatre and rapidly spread throughout the building. By noon there was little left as our sequence of pictures shows.

Fire crews were unable to tackle the blaze and all the gathering crowd could do was watch as the fire took hold.
