Concert Hall Collapses in Summer Storm

The concert hall on Brighton's crumbling West Pier finally crashed into the sea today in storms during which winds reached 70 mph.

Society member, Brian Smith, was photographing the pier as it was buffeted by high seas at 3pm and by 5pm the concert hall had collapsed. Our first picture shows what was left of the concert hall at 3. The second shows what had happened just a couple of hours later.
